I get it. You want to make money from your blog, but you don't want to be obnoxious about it.


I’ve been there. The internet is filled with people who are all too eager to shove ads in your face or try to sell you something they know nothing about.


And I’m here today to tell you that advertising isn't the only way: There are plenty of ways for any blogger, even one who's just starting out, to start making money without being pushy or annoying their readership.


Give your blog a makeover to reach a wider audience.

If you want to attract new readers, the first thing you need to do is give your blog a makeover.


In order for visitors to enjoy your blog and return often, there are some basic features that every website should have:

  • It needs to be mobile-friendly. Most people access the internet through their phones these days, so if your site isn't optimized for mobile users (and doesn't look good), they'll bounce like an underinflated balloon at a birthday party.

The last thing I want when I visit someone's website is for their theme to take over my screen and force me into some kind of dizzying spiral where everything gets blurry and all sounds turn into high-pitched, ringing noises because I’m so overwhelmed by all the colors!

  • Make sure your design isn’t too busy. Keep things simple by sticking with one or two main colors in addition to black text on white background (this makes it easier on everyone).

Instead of trying something completely out there like neon green text against fluorescent pink background graphics shaped like unicorns riding motorcycles through outer space while aliens invade Earth, try using different shades within the theme and design colors as accents instead. After just a sentence, readers might get a headache if they don't know what's going on!
